Today is my birthday. That means Christmas is just four months away.

Half way there it will be Melanie’s birthday. Mine is August 24. Hers is October 24. And, as you will remember, Christmas Eve is December 24.

When we were preparing to get married, I suggested we do so on June 24, so everything would be nicely spaced out and there would be time to clean up between parties. Melanie insisted we get married June 1st so I have to make an extra effort to remember that date. But it was nice to get married three weeks sooner.

Since Valentine’s Day is February 14 we get to keep the celebrations going into the new year on almost the same rhythm. That’s nice, too.
