Contemplative Prayer Group

In one week Melanie and I plan to restart and reopen our home for a weekly contemplative prayer gathering. For several years we hosted a gathering on Thursday evenings. That gathering seemed to have finished its season and we ended it one year ago. Now, in a different season ourselves, Melanie suggested we start again and it seemed to me that we should offer a daytime hour to accommodate people unable to attend an evening gathering. Our plan is to meet each Thursday at 10:00 am for one hour. Let us know if you would like to join us or if you need directions to find us.

Our thinking is to wrap the silent discipline of centering prayer with a couple of  brief guided prayers.  We plan to draw on the daily prayer at Sacred Space from the Irish Jesuits and on Phyllis Tickle’s contemporary Daily Office, The Divine Hours, as hosted by a Vineyard church in Michigan. (Links are also included at the right side of the screen here.) We invite you to check these devotional sites out in your private prayer time. And if you want to join us each Thursday at our house, I encourage you to bring your smartphone, iPad or laptop so you can read along as we open and close with these prayers.

If you would like an introduction to Centering Prayer, check out this page.

We look forward to spending this time with the Lord, and with His Family, starting next Thursday!
