Lent

Several months ago, Melanie and I discovered a blog written by Dr. Steve Harper, an emeritus professor from Asbury Theological Seminary in Orlando. You’ll see it listed as “Oboedire” at the right of the screen, under the “Other Blogs” heading. Melanie and I check his blog as part of our morning devotional discipline each day.

Today, the start of Lent, Dr. Harper mentioned that he was giving up writing in his blog as a Lenten discipline. He intends to resume after Easter.

Mixed feelings about that. I really look forward to seeing what he has to say. Now I have to give that up for Lent, too!

Except, maybe not. I learned that Holy Trinity Church in Bartow has signed Dr. Harper up for a series of talks every Wednesday evening until Palm Sunday. I haven’t heard him in person before, but now – for Lent – I get to do that. 🙂 At least, I hope to be able to sit in for some of those talks.

The disciplines of Lent come in different packages, I see. Thanks be to God.
